Seal Bay - Kangaroo Island
Seal Bay - Location, Kangaroo Island - South Australia
What an amazing experience during one of our Kangaroo Island adventure tours! We walked into the Visitor Information Centre located right on Seal Bay where we were greeted by very knowledgeable and friendly rangers and got the low down about the seal colony, there are many exhibitions and touch tables with fur, skeletons and other cool things.
As we walked down the lovely path to the beach, it was an amazing view. There were seals everywhere from babies to grandpa and they were laying on the beach soaking up the sun.
As the tide wash in, the seals had moved very far up the beach so we had to stay back quite far as they are very protective of their little cubs, but very entertaining. I must say with baby cubs chasing each other around and making lots of noise. On our way back up, I spotted a seal hiding under the steps in the sand dunes and I got some awesome photos, very close too. All in all, it was an awesome experience!
The amazing Seal Bay has 800m board walk, Seal Bay is located in the Seal Bay Conservation Park. It is around 45 minutes drive from Kingscote and around the same to Flinders Chase National Park. There are only 2 sea lion colonies on Kangaroo Island - and only one that you can access - that is what makes Seal Bay so special.
