Visit Australia’s Galapagos - Amazing Kangaroo Island Tours!
There is no doubt why Kangaroo Island is now affectingly known as Australia’s Galapagos- the wild life is just breath taking in diversity and sheer numbers!
Our adventure started with a short drive from Adelaide’s CBD down through the stunning coastline of the Fleurieu Peninsula, with a quick stop off in Mclaren Vale to sample the wine.
45 minutes on the Sealink Ferry from Cape Jervis to the quaint town of Penneshaw kicks off the start of the Kangaroo Island wildlife experience with a whale sighting in the middle of Back Stairs Passage.
The local wildlife guides on Kangaroo Island enhance the tour experience by informing us about this large and diverse Island, describing the animals behavior and sharing Kangaroo Islands secrets such as KI Spirits Juniper Berry Gin - now no longer a secret due to the international prizes it has won!
As boat lovers, it was fascinating to explore Cape du Couedic where a lighthouse still shines its warning light out across the rocks. We sneaked a peak at the fur seal colony that live here.
Next stop, Flinders Chase National Park to view the rugged coastline and endless wilderness. As we parked the car the wild life came to us with a Koala casually meandering through the car park.
Our 3 day tour was packed with the natural sights of Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, Snellings Beach, Vivonne Bay and plenty of typical Aussie bush lands.
My most treasured Kangaroo Island experience was getting up close and personal with the locals at Seal Bay. At Seal Bay Conservation Park we walked among Australian sea lions nursing pups, playing in the surf and males battling for dominance of the female harem.
Kangaroo Island you have earned a treasured spot in our hearts, we will return!
